No room for Tigers in regionals

When the 64-team field was unveiled this morning for NCAA regionals, John Pawlowski’s fifth Auburn team was not included.

Auburn finished the regular season by winning consecutive series over Ole Miss at home, Florida on the road and Arkansas at home. But it was one-and-done in the SEC Tournament, falling to Alabama 6-3. And that proved to be the final game for the Tigers of 2013.

In the end, the selection committee took the top nine teams in the overall SEC standings. Auburn missed out for the fourth time in Pawlowski’s five seasons. Since Steve Renfroe was fired in 2004 after going to three regionals in four seasons, Auburn has been to just two regionals.

The Tigers finished 33-23 overall and 13-17 in the SEC.
