Electronic gadgets to purify tubewell water

Jal Kal is going to install electronic doser at different tubewells, replacing the older mechanical ones to ensure supply of disinfected water in the households.

Jal Kal general manager BK Pandey said that Jal Nigam has already installed electronic dosers at 30 tubewells under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM) and Jal Kal had targeted 110 tubewells to installed the gadgets. Disinfectant sodium hydrochloride will be used to control the growth of harmful micro-organisms in water.

"The mechanical dosers using bleaching powder as disinfectant to purify water supplied via tubewells are not very effective. Electronic dosers are more reliable," he added.

The mercury had already crossed the 30 degrees Celsius mark in the region this year and Jal Kal is gearing up to meet the requirements of the people. The department had received Rs 10 lakh to purchase additional spare parts for water pumps of tubewells.

Six newly constructed overhead tanks will also become functional from April.
