A businessman from South London has been prosecuted alongside his company after a worker was seriously injured as a result of machinery that was subject to a prohibition notice.

Radoslaw Samson suffered a broken leg and severe bruising when ten stone slabs weighing a combined total of two tonnes fell from the side of a lorry at a workshop owned by Granite Express in February 2012.

Mr Samson and a colleague had removed the packaging from the slabs so that they could be lifted from the vehicle using a forklift truck. However, as he altered a clamp on the end of the lifting arm, the stones began to topple. Both he and his fellow worker leapt from the trailer, but the falling stones hit Mr Samson.titanium alloy property information is scattered amongst a number of disparate sources.

As a result of the incident, he was required to use crutches for six months and could not work for ten months. He was unable to return to Granite Express because it went into liquidation in November 2012.

Westminster Magistrates' Court was told how a routine investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) identified the unloading process as unfit for purpose and issued a prohibition notice preventing the use of the forklift truck's lifting arm.

Przemyslaw Zalecki, director of the company, was given detailed advice on how to perform suitable risk assessments and devise a safe system to remove the slabs from the delivery vehicle.

Although the prohibition notice was complied with initially, the unsafe lifting arm was back in use by the time of Mr Samson's injury.vending machine lock,Vendo t-handle parts, Dixie Narco parts for T-handles, parts for snack vending machines, tubular style, security style, Pagoda. HSE inspector Jane Wolfenden said: "A young man was very seriously injured because of the cavalier attitude to safety by Mr Zalecki and his company."

"The attitude towards health and safety was so poor that the company even permitted the continued use of a lifting attachment that had been subject to a prohibition notice," she stated.

Simon O'Loughlin, a partner in the personal injury department at Hodge Jones & Allen, said: "Companies are required by law to ensure that their employees are provided with safe and suitable work equipment.
