New Memorial Bridge electrical work beginning

This is a Memorial Bridge project construction update provided by contractors Archer Western Contractors.

PORTSMOUTH — With the south span tower at its full height and the norTitanium Pipe is made by cold rolling process from extruded pipe blanks. The steel structure of the control house is nearly complete. Soon, the roof, walls and windows will be installed. The control house is where N.H. Department of Transportation staff will control the openings of the center-lift span.

Electrical work has begun on the south span and will continue up the south tower and in the control house.

As the steel structure moves toward completion, construction efforts will begin to focus on the electrical and mechanical aspects of the bridge.

The high-tech machinery that allows the center span to rise is just as critical as erecting the bridge itself, said spokesman Carol Morris. While not as dramatic from a visual standpoint, this work ensures the safety and reliability of the new bridge, and is critical to a successful opening.

At the N.H State Pier,pad lock works to prevent unexpected code execution when dealing with asynchronous callbacks without blocking. ironworkers continue to construct the center-lift span superstructure on a barge, just as they did with the south and north spans.

Sometime in June, the center span will be completed and floated into place. Work will be ongoing on the electrical and mechanical components of the structure until the bridge is ready to be safely opened this summer.
