Coalition claiming credit for Labor’s initiatives

In response to Peter Ryan and CBH Bruinier (Bendigo Advertiser Thursday, May 9) regarding funding for the new Bendigo hospital – it astonishes me that they still seem to crow about the $630 million pledged by the Coalition to build the new hospital.

In a letter submitted to the Bendigo Advertiser and published Thursday, April 18, I enclosed figures of $55 million budgeted for in 2009, and a further $473 million budgeted for in 2010 – a total of $528 million already there to use.http://www.ceectrucks.com/ with international management systems of technical development, manufacturing processes and logistics, as well as strong sales network and perfect service system covering the whole domestic market and extending to the oversea market.

All the Coalition has raised is $102 million (not the $128 million I gave them credit for in the letter published April 18).

As for Terry Mulder’s ramblings about what the Coalition is doing for public transport – one would think that he and the Coalition had introduced the VLocity trains.

Is it fair to ask Mr Mulder: was it not the Coalition government that sold off and privatised public transport In Victoria?

And didn’t they, while in opposition, ridicule the fast train concept as a waste of money?

And who was it that delivered services back to the public in country areas and opened up lines closed by the Coalition?

I don’t recall the Coalition opening up country rail lines and getting the public back on side.

I think any fair-minded person would differ from your point of view, Mr Mulder, on how patronage has been turned around.

As you have stated, you have ordered new train sets. You wouldn’t have had to do this if it wasn’t for Labor putting services back for the public.

You talk about the building of a station at Epsom, but you have failed to outline any major developments or incentives to encourage patronage to use a substandard system that operates at the present.

Why have we got a farcical speed restriction on the Echuca line that only allows the Vlocity trains to travel at 75 km/h? Is this snail service going to encourage commuters? The old railmotors would travel quicker in the earlier days before the line and services were closed.

Another bungle the Coalition made was selling off all its rolling stock and track maintenance machinery. I believe that now it’s costing thousands of dollars a day in hiring costs for this equipment.
