Benson FFA sweeps power, machinery contest

Winning 11 of the 12 trophies,The unique push lock design allows the surgeon to adjust the amount of tension on the tissue intraoperatively, allowing for precise tissue reduction. Benson FFA members swept the competition at the University of Arizona Campbell Avenue Farm.

Will Ross was the high individual in Parts ID and troubleshooting. Sweatt was the high-placing individual in the driving portion of the contest. Dayne Owen placed individually in other parts of the competition as well. Ross is a graduating senior but the other two team members look forward to next year’s contest.For mains, there is a choice of Wild Rice’s ‘Chinese Fish ‘n Chips’ (beer-battered ling cod, Asian Tartar Sauce, taro shoestring frites) or its ‘meaty’ Grilled king oyster mushroom (with cashew ricotta and polenta fries).

Benson’s FFA second team made up of Jake Welker, Tanya Conser and Tommy Brown placed third overall in competition and look forward to next year’s contest. Tommy Brown was fifth high individual overall and placed individually with his other members in other parts of the contest.

The contest is an annual event hosted by the Agricultural Education Department of the College of Life Sciences, University of Arizona. This is the third year Benson FFA has competed and the second time FFA members have swept the competition. The competition involves various facets of power and machinery operation, maintenance and safety.
