The bright side of those potholes

Periodically, disgruntled readers ask if I have to be so negative. They want to know why I don't "look on the bright side of anything."

My stock reply goes something like: "Look at my column. Does it say 'Up With People' anywhere? No. It does not. Want an uplifting message? Read a church bulletin."
