Cyan and Nistica today announced a joint development agreement to build high-capacity linecards that provide multi-degree reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexing (ROADM) capabilities. Nistica will combine its compact, optics-only versions of Wavelength Selective Switches (WSS) with an intelligent optical layer to deliver single-slot integrated line-cards that provide 2-, 4- or 8-degree connectivity in emerging networks. Fabrinet has been chosen by Nistica as the supplier of printed circuit board assemblies, and the linecard assembly will be performed by Fujikura Fiber Optics Vietnam, Fujikura's manufacturing subsidiary.
